CECC is an alternative to public and private care organizations: a Social Service Co-op owned by seniors and managed by seniors to provide services for seniors. It is a social services co-op incorporated under the B.C. Co-operative Associations Act and its purposes include coordinating services to help senior access quality care and remain connected to their communities as well as coordinating housing opportunities for senior members.

All that is required for lifetime membership is the purchase of a fully redeemable $10 share. Co-op services will only be provided to seniors living
in the Cowichan Valley, but service providers and affiliated organizations will all be members of the Co‑op, so seniors will always be dealing with
someone who cares and is part of the same co-operative.
